Contemporary Ethnic Polyphony
“Tarkka pää, tania mieli” is Ilona Korhonen’s composition for seventeen female voices. The composition is based on the texts of Larin Paraske – the most renown Ingrian runo-singer of all times. The themes of the compostion deal with humanity, community and solitarity.
Ilona Korhonen is a musician, composer and is currently writing a PhD in folk music at the Folk Music Department of Sibelius Academy. “Tarkka pää, tania mieli” is part of her PhD. Ilona Korhonen Ensemble was founded in 2008 in order to perform Ilona Korhonen’s compositions for female choirs.
